Helluva a birthday gift! Getting to play one of the most noted international football games in recent sports history….
Argentina and Germany will play for the World Cup Sunday, but regardless of the result, Colombian star James Rodriguez is the tournament’s biggest winner. Rodriguez scored six goals in five games (he still leads all scorers), including what is arguably the most beautiful goal of the year against Uruguay.
Colombia lost to Brazil in the quarterfinals, but returned home as heroes (More than 90,000 fans greeted the team in Colombia). Rodriguez, who transferred to AS Monaco in 2013, has quickly become the most desired player in the world. Real Madrid are rumored to be interested in Rodriguez, and he said it would be a “dream” to play for the club.
Rodriguez turned 23 Saturday, and the hashtag #FelizCumpleJames started trending both in the United States and worldwide. Rodriguez thanked fans for the thousands of messages, both in English and Spanish.
